Just yesterday the Michigan Senate took up and passed S.B. 83, Red Flag Gun Confiscations, and have sent it to Governor Whitmer’s desk for a signature!
The three other bills in the package (HB 4146, HB 4147, HB 4148) haven’t been agreed upon. The Senate amended these bills, sending them back to the House for an up-or-down vote on the Senate’s changes.
We’re asking every gun owner in Michigan to take a moment and tell Whitmer you’re OPPOSED to these gun control bills! SIGN NOW!
If Whitchmer signs, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure Orders’ would allow virtually anyone to make a claim that you are a danger to yourself or someone else and ask a judge to order you stripped of your firearms.
It will be the death of due-process and will swing the door wide open for outrageous abuse.
This law will:
- Allow personal enemies like an ex-spouse, bitter coworker,
or a vengeful neighbor to phone in a bogus complaint in an
attempt to ruin your life, with almost no consequences! - Allow a liberal judge to hear this allegation that you
‘might be dangerous’ and order the seizure of your firearms
before you’ve been charged or convicted of ANYTHING! - Usually allow these hearings to take place in secret. Often,
the first time you would know that you’ve been ‘Red Flagged’ is when a SWAT team comes to your home to seize your guns. - Create an almost automated renewal process, meaning that in
most cases a gun owner who is disarmed through these laws
will NEVER get their firearms back!
The risk to gun owners is ENDLESS!
